Securing a spot at a Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) requires a strategic approach. While filling out the application, prioritise your preferred school branch. Proximity to the school is an important factor, so living nearby will significantly improve your application. Because KVs serve transferable Central Government employees, children of defence and paramilitary personnel frequently receive special treatment. If you have a sibling who is already enrolled in the same KV, your chances will improve even more.
Additionally, understanding the reservation system for categories like EWS, SC, and ST can be advantageous. Here are a few factors that you must consider when applying for admission into a Kendriya Vidyalaya:
How many schools can one choose on the KVS admission form?
The Kendriya Vidyalaya Admission Form allows applicants to select up to three preferred schools. The order of selection does not indicate preference; each option is evaluated separately.
Applicants can then choose any branch for ‘School 1,’ ‘School 2,’ or ‘School 3.’ Furthermore, applicants may choose fewer than three Kendriya Vidyalayas. Kendriya Vidyalayas in India are classified into four types, and when selecting a branch, you must also select the state it belongs to, which is required.

Distance from home to the desired school
For students filling out forms under the Divyang, SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and BPL categories, this option is significant. This option will not be visible in other students’ forms. Filling out the admission form under the mentioned categories means that the student will be admitted to a Kendriya Vidyalaya under the RTE. Keeping the distance from home to the Kendriya Vidyalaya in mind increases the likelihood of admission.
